"Hi! It was a pleasure dealing with Fimbel from beginning to end. Carl came out to give us an estimate, showed up on time after having called to say he was running a tad tate (which was no problem), presented himself professionally, made sure we knew exactly what we were ordering, took care of some job-specific issues regarding the trim around the door, gave a good price without "nickel and diming" us, called again the next day to schedule and called again right before the day of the job.
  An employee named Steven showed up on time and ready to work, set up and organized all his materials and tools, worked quickly and efficienly, explained things about which I asked, did not bad-mouth the competition when I mentioned them, finished in a timely manner, SWEPT THE GARAGE!!!! and showed me every aspect of what he had done. lt looked awesome! "This must be what the good old days were like. You call a company with a problem, and the company has the expertise and the desire to really help you. That is exactly what happened to me.

I live in Connecticut and had contacted a local garage door company when the bottom panel of my double garage door began to rot. The owner assured me the bottom of the door could be replaced and gave me an estimate. After I approved the contract, he called me back with the bad news: he may not be to find an exact match for the door, but he was sure the difference wouldn't be noticeable -- except to me. The problem was the panel; the beveled style was no longer made. On seeing a sample panel, it was clear the new panel would be nothing like the original. I was told Fimbel, the original manufacturer was no longer in business. The only solution, he said, was to order two new garage doors. Did I want wood or metal?

As a former investigative reporter, I immediately turned to the internet. A little googling seemed in order. There was a Fimbel garage door company in New Hampshire! A few minutes later, Carl Fimbel, grandson of the company founder, was on the line. He understood the problem immediately, and he figured if I could remove the garage door panels and ship them to him, he could have new frame made and insert my old panels. Carl went over the measurements three times, and instructed me in detail how to remove the panels. We were sure it would work, and I was totally confident, with his guidance, that I could handle the panel removal.

A few weeks later, Carl's son Andrew took a ride from New Hampshire with my new bottom garage door panel tied to the top of his truck. He installed it in an hour. It was perfect. I then asked if he could replace two pieces of weather stripping which a hungry mouse had nibbled on. No problem! This was just unbelievable. The entire process went through without a hitch!

I felt very lucky and found myself wondering why other businesses didn't operate similarly. Is the work ethic different in New Hampshire? Do they eat something different for breakfast than folks in the rest of the country? I don't know the answer, but I certainly was impressed.

"I recently added another bay to an existing 20-year-old barn at my 200+ year-old Farm in Auburn Massachusetts. When I started investigation where I Could find and overhead door to math the three existing doors (the door openings all have the same southern exposure), the previous owner aimed me in the direction of the retired overhead door gentleman who installed the three original doors in 1985. "I called your service department in March because my garage door opener had developed a bad case of gremlins. It wouldn't always open when I wanted it to, and, with increasing frequency, it did open when I did not want it to. I brought in the remote and bought a new one, but that did not cure the problem. I brought the box and remote in and your service manager tried to work with them, but that did not work. We arranged for a service call and that worked for about 24 hours. When I called your service department, I was assured that someone would be back the next day. I suspect that it took several additional visits but the problem was cured.
